Harry & David Moose Munch Chocolate Bar

What the hell is this? It’s “a moose of a different sort”. With a fudgey centre, white popcorn, buttery caramel and crisp nuts all dipped in milk chocolate. Wow, sounds a bit busy.

The packet looks pretty nice. I’m not sure if Harry and David are a gay couple or what (controversial) but they’re good designers. There’s a picture of the 56g Moose Munch bar on the front and it looks like there’s huge pieces of stuff in there.

The packet isn’t foil, instead it’s a thick sort of plastic, it has a strange feel to it. Inside it is a plastic tray which holds the Moose Munch bar, maybe it’s there to stop it all from falling to pieces or something. After taking the bar out of the tray I think this can be confirmed.

The fudgey centre seems to only be at the bottom of the bar, or at least it was at the beginning because the middle of it was so chock full of pieces of stuff. The whole thing tastes a bit nutty, sometimes slightly caramelly but mostly chocolatey. It’s a bit crispy as well as being very soft, and yet despite all of this it’s a little bit dull.

It’s not a bad bar by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m waiting for something to jump out at me. The fudgey chocolate is alright, the regular milk chocolate is also alright (certainly better than Hershey’s ass chocolate). The nuts are quite nice and so are the popcorn and caramel but they’re all mixed together and create a sort of bland mix. If you find it anywhere then it might be worth a try but I don’t think it’s a bar worth seeking out. I enjoyed it while it lasted though and it’s nice to find a bar that seems a little less corporate.
