House of Dorchester Rose and Violet Connoisseur Collection

Some companies think a bit too much of themselves, and when I saw that House of Dorchester called this a ‘connoisseur collection’, I instantly thought that they were perhaps a little conceited. Especially considering this was short dated, and hence unpopular stock, perhaps it’s not quite as good as they would like to believe.
This is a fairly simple, yet pretty looking box of 12 chocolates. Each one is 70% cocoa solids and is filled with either a rose or violet flavoured fondant cream. The way to know which is which is that on the top of each chocolate is either a little violet coloured sparkly thing or a rose one. Not rocket science, this.
The taste is how you’d expect for anyone who’s had these kind of flavours before. Perfumy and a little faint, the bitter chocolate and sweet fondant creme combine quite well, and these taste quite nice in fact. They’re not amazing, and with a £5 price tag they’re a rip off (I paid £1.15 and would pay a maximum of double that), but they were quite pleasant. I am a fan of flavours like this though, I know a lot of people who aren’t, so if you like things such as Turkish Delight then this’ll be right up your alley.
