Cadbury Astros

Sometimes I wonder why I buy things from South Africa, as the chocolate there has never impressed me, but here we go again. Cadbury’s Astros are “candy and chocolate covered biscuit bites” in a small rectangular box.
The box looks nice, but you can tell the product is average when the selling point is that these have “new massive black hole astro[s] in selected packs!”, seriously, the selling point is that in each box a few of these biscuit bites will be slightly bigger than others.
Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing bad about these, but they’re so…plain. Inoffensive, but nothing there that makes me think that I just HAVE to get these again, and I can certainly see why Cadbury haven’t bothered bringing these over to Britain. They taste pretty much as expected, fairly tasteless biscuit with ordinary milk chocolate and a candy shell. They went down my throat fairly quickly and when they were gone they were gone, and that’s that.

I’m sure I remember a very similar product on sale in the UK around the late 90s/early 00s roughly, perhaps even with the same name. Anyone else??

ASTRO’s are the BEST!
On a recent trip to mauritius I think I cleared the supermarkets. I was devastated that they got taken off the shelves, I believe I bought my last pack in the UK around 2002-2003.

Are you kidding me? I LOVE Astros! When I went to South Africa they were my favorite thing to eat! I absolutely adore ASTROS!

Astros were first launched in 1997 by Cadbury in the United Kingdom, Canada, USA as well as in South Africa as a rival to Nestlé Smarties, and M&M’s in the US .[1] The confectionery can be described as a candy coated chocolate with a biscuit centre. They have since been discontinued in the UK, but are still sold in South Africa. In Australia they were marketed as Lunas.
you can still buy these but have to buy them from africa.. but wats the point theyre not worth it really ?? nasty plan and boring crunchy biscuit bites with chocolate

yes, astros r still in south africa and they r loved by many. In defense of south african chocs, altho we may not get that much of a range in s.a as the uk or usa, we have many old favourites. Tried and tested. Y change what works!?! Ive had chocs in the uk and without a doubt most of them are brilliant, but there are a few that are let downs. For anyone complaining about chocs in s.a. I strongly suggest u taste ones in india. I assure u u will find a new appreciation even for astros!

Who cares what anyone really thinks? Come on! I think that if no one liked it it would be discontinued COMPLETLEY! and you go all around the world and different countries have different foods…so like it or lump it. Foreign food is so much better then British food anyday and thats MY opinion.
Love you all =]

I have been looking for these since I was in South Africa. I LOVE THEM. Maybe just the memory of them but I want to try them again.
