Thorntons Continental White Chocolate Collection

Another huge 400g box of continental chocolates from Thorntons. This one is obviously made up of entirely white chocolates. There are only eight unique flavours here, just means we get a bit more of the same, not a big deal.
The tagline is the same stuff from before, pretty much word for word. The box looks identical except for being white instead of brown. Not too much to say really on that whole front, it’s all quite minimalist.
So let’s get onto the chocolates. With only 8 varieties you get at least three of each kind, and then extras to boot. The Vanilla Truffle I found was a plain, almost tasteless affair. The white chocolate had no taste and the truffle was a little tough, perhaps a little stale but I saw no reason why it should have been. The Cappuccino is a nice one, with brewed coffee whipped into a mousse, covered with white chocolate and sprinkled with cocoa powder, it looks nice and tastes nice. Praline with Crepes was also very interesting. Inspired by pancakes sold on streets in Belgium, it’s hazelnut praline with chopped French pancakes within white chocolate. Sound nice? It tastes just as good, extremely hazelnutty with crunchy bits. The Strawberry Crush was another light mousse only with strawberry flavour, lovely and fruity. It wasn’t nearly as zingy as the Sicilian Lemon Mousse though, which had a real kick to it. Everytime a company puts a lemon flavour in a box it ends up as my favourite, and this is no different.
Or at least it wouldn’t have been, if this box didn’t also have a Chocolat Riche. I guess Thorntons have found their niche with the riche, because they coated it in white chocolate and stuck it in here, and my word it’s just as good as it was before. I do actually think the Lemon Mousse tastes better but it’s really close. The Champagne Truffle is also a boozy, lovely affair. For the most part, this box works the same way as the milk chocolate collection. Mostly nutty and truffley but with a few outstanding mentions. Everything here was at the least enjoyable and at the most simply divine.
