Thorntons White Chocolate Block

The last block I’m reviewing for now, though there’s like 12 or 15 of these things. This is Belgian white chocolate and nothing else, smooth and creamy, it’s “continental white chocolate at its best”. A little bit controversial maybe but I’ll go with it.

Same old, same old when it comes to the box and the design. Another cream colour, though this is more of an off white than the last, and is a bit lighter. It says ‘white’ on the front and other than that there isn’t much to comment on that hasn’t already been said.

One interesting thing to note is that the Mexican bar from a couple of days ago was made in France, and this particular bar was actually made in Belgium. Seems a bit strange how Thorntons are outsourcing their manufacturing like that, though I’m sure they have a good reason for it.

Of course we have a standard, solid white chocolate block in a plastic wrapper. The chocolate itself is quite nice, smooth and creamy how white chocolate should be. It’s a little bit vanilla-ry which is how Thorntons described it, and I quite liked it. It seemed a bit too plain compared to the other bars but it was to be expected, for a white chocolate bar though this is good quality stuff.

Most of the blocks are dark chocolate with various flavours which is why I went for these first, but don’t worry, I’ll be getting to those boys eventually.

Difficult reviewing chocolate that’s just… chocolate… isn’t it? All you can really say is something along the lines of “this is exactly what white chocolate is supposed to be, but so often fails to be. If you’re thinking of good white chocolate, this is exactly the sort of thing you’re thinking of. Those who like white chocolate will love this. Oh yes, they’ll say, that’s white chocolate, yessir!”. It’s all too easy to concentrate on novelty items, so you can talk lots about the novelty aspects, rather than the chocolatey virtues of the chocolate itself. So good on yer for reviewing some pure and simple white chocolate.

Love white chocolate for a change of pace and it’s good to know there is a very good one out there.
