Galler Oh! Les Couers

I think I’ve done it. I think I’ve finally become a professional chocolate blogger. I got an email from a marketing rep for Galler yesterday offering me some samples, and today I was at home for lunch for all of 5 minutes before there was a knock on the door. I went downstairs, opened the door, and found a guy in motorcycle gear holding a little handbag style…bag, with ‘Galler’ written on the front. Personal courier delivery, wowzers, they went all out for this one. I was also told the review needed to be up by tonight, I’ve been set a deadline!
Inside my little bag was a bubble wrapped box of the rather oddly titled Oh! Les Couers, which cost a whopping £20 over on Galler’s site, I know it’s artisan chocolate but that’s a lot of money, no doubt about it.
The box looks pretty minimalist, there’s no information on it at all, no ingredients, just ‘Galler’. Fair enough. The ingredients are listed on the website though which I think is the only place you can order them, they look interesting as well. Four differently coloured hearts, two of which are dark chocolate, one is milk and one is white. The hollow chocolate hearts are covered in shells, almost like very posh Smarties. The shells are naturally coloured and flavoured – passion fruit, blood orange, strawberry and grape.
Now the natural flavours can actually be tasted…just. It’s not like they’re covered in fruit powder or anything, it’s just a plain sugar shell, so definitely like very posh, heart shaped Smarties. The taste is quite excellent, the dark chocolate isn’t too dark at all despite being 70%, probably because of how thin it is and the coating it has.
Now as lovely as these were, I still balk at the price. £20 is definitely a lot of money, for me that’s a week of shopping, and to splash it all out on one box of chocolates would be a bit crazy. These aren’t aimed at me though I suppose, instead they’re a valentine’s special and they’re aimed at the kind of guy who will splash out that little bit extra on his missus. Is that you? Well, then these will have quite the impression. If it helps at all, they are currently offering a 10% discount on all their goods if you enter PROMO-VAL-2009 at the checkout.

Haha I told them I wasn’t going to be set deadlines
The only deadline I am making myself work to at the minute is my dissertation one.

A friend brought me a two tiered box of Galler when she came back from Europe a few months ago. It was all absolutely wonderful – fresh flavors, silky textures & cute designs. I have no idea how much she paid for it, but I was very, very grateful. (She’s the one who also brought me Cola Mentos.)

Aw I didn’t set you all deadlines
Thanks again for helping out!
What was your favorite out of the four?
Jim – I know you’ve been studying. Just let me know when you fancy running a review and i’ll sort out the rest
