Hotel Chocolat’s Caramel Sweethearts

I received my monthly box of freebies from Hotel Chocolat on Saturday, with a little message from my friend Matt, telling me that the selection I had was from their latest ‘Season of Love’ range. Valentine’s Day already? We only just got Christmas out of the way! The chocolate seasons never end…fortunately.
Now this one piqued my interest the most, a box of engraved hearts, cast in caramel chocolate with a bit of crunch and a hint of fruitiness. There are 28 pieces in the stylish pink and black box, spread out over two trays. The crunch comes in the form of bresilliene, cocoa crispies, and the fruitiness comes in the form of cherry powder. Cherry, yes!

The hearts look great, and taste even better. Really good in fact, REALLY good. The caramel is mixed into the chocolate, so there’s no runny stuff, the crunch doesn’t have much of a taste but a nice texture, and the fruitiness is great. It’s not too strong, and it only comes in little bursts of flavour, but that’s just how it needs to be. I really can’t fault these at all, some of the nicest things I’ve had in a long time.
P.S. You can find them on the Hotel Chocolat website here.

Terry maybe if we squint out eyes at the notes that come with our samples maybe we can pretend they are from ‘Matilda’ and not ‘Matt’ … I think I would feel a bit more at ease with my caramel sweethearts then

Jim – I agree it is a little unnerving to think of myself as Matt’s caramel sweetheart.

Slow down there guys… I’m not that way inclined
Glad you enjoyed these, and yes the chocolate season doesn’t seem to end, Mother’s Day and Easter next!
