Harry & David Moose Munch Chocolate Bar
What the hell is this? It’s “a moose of a different sort”. With a fudgey centre, white popcorn, buttery caramel and crisp nuts all dipped in milk chocolate. Wow, sounds a bit busy.
The packet looks pretty nice. I’m not sure if Harry and David are a gay couple or what (controversial) but they’re good designers. There’s a picture of the 56g Moose Munch bar on the front and it looks like there’s huge pieces of stuff in there.
The packet isn’t foil, instead it’s a thick sort of plastic, it has a strange feel to it. Inside it is a plastic tray which holds the Moose Munch bar, maybe it’s there to stop it all from falling to pieces or something. After taking the bar out of the tray I think this can be confirmed.
The fudgey centre seems to only be at the bottom of the bar, or at least it was at the beginning because the middle of it was so chock full of pieces of stuff. The whole thing tastes a bit nutty, sometimes slightly caramelly but mostly chocolatey. It’s a bit crispy as well as being very soft, and yet despite all of this it’s a little bit dull.
It’s not a bad bar by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m waiting for something to jump out at me. The fudgey chocolate is alright, the regular milk chocolate is also alright (certainly better than Hershey’s ass chocolate). The nuts are quite nice and so are the popcorn and caramel but they’re all mixed together and create a sort of bland mix. If you find it anywhere then it might be worth a try but I don’t think it’s a bar worth seeking out. I enjoyed it while it lasted though and it’s nice to find a bar that seems a little less corporate.

This review made me laugh Terry – I wonder if H&D are a gay couple!?
You should try the dark version of this just for the hell of it! I preferred the milk choc version but you never know!

Moose Bar… GREAT – FANTASTIC,
I personally love it and I’m so sad CVS our pharmacy has stopped carrying it… People this is good chocolate and full of the good stuff. who wouldever thought to drop some popcorn in there – its all that and a bag a chips to me. ! Searching for these bars now..

I think these candy bars are awesome! a little pricey,but so much better than anything else out there. I brought a few with me on Father’s Day,EVERYONE liked them !

I have tried both the milk and dark chocolate and they are awesome!! I love the combination of the popcorn, nuts, caramel, and chocolate. They work well together. I bought them at Target but hopefully I can find them in other locations.

Jake, not anymore. It was 1.99 today.
Few weeks back I went to a H&D Outlet and they sell this chocolate for $2 each when Target price was still 99c. I guess it was misspriced by Target to begin with.

My godmother knows I love chocolate and sent me one of these for my birthday (she’s in NH, I’m in TN). Well, it ended up a bit melted on arrival, so I put it in the fridge. I ate it in it’s cold state and YUM! Now I’ll have to head up to Murfreesboro to pick one up myself and try it at room temp

I bought some of these on closeout at Walgreens for a friend’s BD.I ate one,
gave the other 3 to them.
They are hooked,and now are on the lookout for them!There is a local H&D
(why the homophobia?)but they are $2.50
each.You can buy them online,too.
The center is like a truffle,and the popcorn is great.Kinda like a rocky road with popcorn.I really liked the Milk Chocolate one that I had.My friend is crazy for them both.

I have purchased the dark chocolate bars at Target and they are fabulous. I am a serious chocoholic and this is a favorite! Although the idea of popcorn in a candy bar struck me as a bit strange, it is perfect. Don’t miss an opportunity to try one!

This chocolate review blog is a great idea. My personal favorite of all time is the Lindt dark chocolate truffle. But I recently discovered a new favorite – would you do a review of the Hagensborg truffle pig dark chocolate bar?
FYI, I believe Harry and David are brothers who inherited the business together from their dad.

Hey I feel in love with the dark chocolate a display at Carson Pirie had them for a 1.75 not bad. Found them at TJ Maxx for 1.79 either way not bad for a choc/crunch fix infact my husband bought the whole diplay at one store just to pass out or i mean eat over the holidays.

Moose Munch Chocolate Bar is superb and far better than Hagensborg Chocolates. They do not need to be reviewed -not worth it in my opinion.

When I saw the package I wondered what in the world is this stuff. Then when I bit into it and took a look at it I wondered who could think up to put this conglomeration together! But when I actually “tasted” it.. OMG!!! It was heaven in a candy bar! I’m Hooked!

I was so surprised to read your review of the moose munch bar! I cannot believe how great it is, the guys who made it are genius! Its a candy bar from heaven! I’ve never tasted anything so good! Shows how all see things so different!

Not certain what this bar taste like – I just know it better taste better than German chocolate!! My sister had me running around NoVA and still could not find it. I am a serious chocoHOLIC. If you can tell me where to find in NoVA/MD/DC area-thanks in advance!

I just received two of these in a care package overseas. I’d never had them before. Granted they were both melted, but absolutely delicious! I loved the Moose Munch bars. I will be ordering some when the weather gets a little cooler over here.

I got a couple of the dark chocolate bars in my stocking. These things are ridiculous! I can live on them. They are that good! They were purchased at TJ Maxx in NY for $1.79 each. Well worth it!

I love this chocolate bar. I found this bar at NH when I went to visit my sister. I initially bought it for my husband. Now that I’ve tried it. I’m hooked and nuts over it. I try to savor the taste everytime I would have a bar. It’s hard to save. You just want to eat it all up! It’s that awesomely good! I always buy two boxes of it on my way home. 5 hrs away for chocolate bars. love it!
