Montezuma’s Creamy White Chocolate

Aha! Montezuma’s! It’s been awhile, my friend. I remember when we last met, when you got in contact with me and sent me many of yours bars. I reviewed them all, and found them to be mainly quite shoddy, you never spoke to me again and we parted ways. But here we are again, I found you discounted and short on shelf life, surprising? Perhaps not, but let us see if you have improved in the past year.

Creamy, organic white chocolate in a red cardboard box. Minimalist box art, but a wonderful aim for Montezuma’s – “to bring handmade chocolate to mere mortals”, and how grateful we are for it! Me, a mere mortal, have been bestowed such a wonderfully(?) well crafted bar and as such I should be thankful. Praise the lord! Praise Montezuma!

Montezuma’s say, on the back of the box, that white chocolate lovers are the most difficult to please. Some like it sweet while others like a stronger milk and vanilla balance. They hope (haha) they’ve got it right, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for the visible black vanilla grains!

I open the box and pull out our plastic wrapped white chocolate bar. Plain and a little unimpressive looking, I keep an eye out for the visible black vanilla grains. I think I can see them…kind of? There’s only one or two in the entire bar, so I break it up into individual squares, and it’s the same situation. What a wonderful gimmick.

It seems Montezuma’s went more for the sweet spectrum, the vanilla flavour is also stronger than the milk flavour. While not bad, it’s not great, but white chocolate never really is. To be fair on Montezuma’s I did enjoy this bar and it was worth the £1 I paid for it. Worth having again? I guess so, being organic is a plus but so are Green and Black’s and they’re a little nicer and easier to get ahold of.
