White Rabbit Chocolate Cream Candy

I’ve reviewed a couple of White Rabbit products in the past – original and red bean – and when I saw that there was a chocolate variety I figured I may as well try them. I’m not the biggest fan of this major Chinese export, but well…it’s chocolate, so I’ll do my duty (the sad thing is I really do feel a sense of duty towards this whole…thing).
The bag these come in looks quite nice. It’s a different look and feel to their usual stuff, it’s 200g and there are hardly any ingredients here, just starch syrup, white sugar, chocolate, caramel and edible corn starch. It gives no information about the chocolate or anything, so I’ve just got to take it how it is. I assume it’s not the best quality stuff around, though I’ve never had Chinese chocolate so that’s perhaps harsh. At the very least it’ll be interesting.
The little candies come individually foil wrapped. Inside are these brown, cylindrical things. What I was hoping was that they would be like their original candies with a little milk chocolate filing, but instead they’re chocolate flavoured. What this basically means is that they taste a lot worse than they potentially could.
They taste a hell of a lot like chocolate flavoured protein powder, which is disgusting stuff. The taste does get a bit better eventually but it’s not saying much. I’d really like to see these remade as I mentioned earlier, like the red bean variety except with chocolate in the middle. In their current form these are really, really not worth trying at all.

Seems like you are taking your life into your hands eating candy that’s been recalled twice in as many years because of poisons.
