Hotel Chocolat Christmas Peepster Box

It seems I wasn’t the only one to get one of these to review, and my review is actually very similar to Chocablog’s, a bit of continuity isn’t a bad thing though, is it?
In this Peepster Box we have four individually wrapped 100g chocolate bars. From left to right, a 40% Milk & White Fusion, 74% House Dark, Cinnamon Praline & Milk, and a 40% House Milk.
Starting from the beginning, of course, we have the Milk & White Fusion. This bar is half and half milk chocolate and white chocolate, and it was quite interesting to take a bite of milk, then a bite of white. The difference in taste was really nice, the white was much sweeter and creamier, and it meant when I bit the milk chocolate it had, well, more of a chocolatey flavour to it for lack of a better word. A nice combination.
The 74% House Dark was my least favourite of the lot. Ok, so I don’t like dark chocolate, I just don’t like it. That out of the way, this was quite bitter and very plain in taste, I found myself choking it down to get to the milk chocolate bell in the middle, which I did quite enjoy. I ended up throwing away half of the slab though, I just couldn’t eat it.
Cinnamon Praline & Milk was by far the best of the bunch. Creamy and soft, it had a wonderful praline taste and the cinnamon was absolutely delicious too. The chocolate itself was very soft, almost truffle-like, and it had little specks on it which were lovely. A really good bar right here, one of the best I’ve ever had from Hotel Chocolat.
The 40% House Milk was fairly plain but nice. It had a white chocolate sprig of holly in the middle which changed the flavour somewhat but for the most part, just a nice slab of milk chocolate.
Overall, this isn’t a bad selection. It’s a bit samey, a bit plain, but the Cinnamon Praline was that good that I feel compelled to end this on a high note. That’s definitely the big hitter here, it’s just a shame the others are so plain. I should note that Hotel Chocolat’s “plain” chocolate does still trump the vast majority of other competitors.

Marcia – Yeah, I really do. Don’t make me feel guilty about it! On that note I ate the stuff you sent me about a month ago, just that through December I’ve been concentrating on Christmassy stuff, so those reviews will go up in January. Have a great Christmas too!
