Baileys Original Irish Cream Truffle Bar

December 8th, 2008 by Terry

I’ve had the Baileys truffles before, and really enjoyed them, and as a big Baileys fan, as soon as I saw this I had to have it. This is a 100g truffle bar which comes in a nice little cardboard box. Inside the box are two foil packets, each containing 50g of lovely milk chocolate filled with Bailey’s Irish cream in truffle form.

This bar is actually made and produced in Ireland. It had a really short shelf life, I bought this in late October and it was best before February 2009, so it seemed like this had perhaps sat around in a warehouse somewhere for a little while. It’s still in date though so I doubt it’ll make a huge difference.

The milk chocolate is 35% cocoa solids, and it contains 16% Irish Cream liqueor. The foil packets within the box are quite heavy things, it’s certainly not cheaply made. The bar itself looks very nice once out of the packet, with 6 distinct chunks, and the truffle cream inside is very heavy stuff, it doesn’t seem too creamy at all.

It sure does taste like it though, exactly like Bailey’s Irish cream, except combined with some very nice milk chocolate. I really enjoyed the bar, though I think it would have been a bit nicer if I had the bar a little bit warmer, as the truffle was a bit too thick for my liking. If you’re a Bailey’s fan though, you should really enjoy this, go find it.
