Hotel Chocolat Best Dressed Snowman
I’ve always been quite openly jealous of other reviewers who have managed to get lots of free stuff from Hotel Chocolat, because let’s face it, their stuff is expensive. Good quality and worth it, sure, but expensive nonetheless. When they offered to send me stuff on a regular basis though, I took back anything I had ever said against them. I love these guys.
One of the things they sent me to review for the Christmas lead up was this, the best dressed snowman. I guess this is a Christmas edition that changes every year, as it says that this year he’s a milk chocolate snowman with a white chocolate and cherry flavoured scarf. I love cherry!
So what this means is a big, solid milk chocolate snowman that has a little white chocolate scarf with some cherry flavour. The snowman itself is a work of art, and the chocolate tastes pretty good too, but I was looking forward to this because of the cherry, so how’s the cherry?
Wait, there was cherry here? I sure couldn’t taste it at all. I’ve eaten the whole thing and not got a hint of cherry. Like I said, the milk chocolate was nice enough, and the white chocolate could be tasted…kinda, but there was just not enough cherry there for me at all. Decent, but not great, and considering the cherry was what I got excited about, I would in fact call this just a little disappointing.

Glad to see you’re in Hotel Choc’s good books. The lack of cherry flavour in the scarf sounds disappointing, when they made such a big deal about it. I always reckon if fruit’s being used in chocolate, it should be intense enough to announce itself. You should have been able to immediately say “mmm… cherry!” even in a blind tasting. But you couldn’t, and that’s “their bad”, as folks say these days. Here’s hoping their next offering gets your tastebuds tingling a bit more.

Paul – That was exactly the problem with it. It was like, “this year he’s chock full of cherry!” when all they’ve done is give him a bunch of tiny red specks and the weakest cherry flavour I’ve ever known. Real shame because I love cherry and I don’t doubt it would have been some great stuff.

Terry, do you know of any another Cherry and Chocolate combo’s that they sell here in the UK that you think are tasty? I wish they would sell the Cherry Ripe over here!
