Nestlé Kit Kat Caramel Macchiato

November 11th, 2008 by Terry

Not just any ordinary Caramel Macchiato, no no, this here is a collaboration between two major corporations - Nestlé and…McDonald’s. No kidding, Nestlé have a limited edition bar here that’s based off of McDonald’s Caramel Macchiato McFlurry in Japan. Insane.

I’ll be honest, the box looks great, as always. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Kit Kat bar from Japan that hasn’t been really well designed, and this is another. There’s a picture on the front of a McFlurry, and just the idea of this alone is enough to make me really interested.

The packets look fairly plain, but the bar looks really nice. As soon as I opened it my nostrils were hit by a sickly, sickly sweet caramel smell. Even by my standards it seemed way overdone. Interestingly enough there’s also a diagram on the back of the box pointing out, I assume, where the flavour is located in the wafer. Shame it’s all in Japanese.

The bar itself tastes a lot less sweet than I expected. It’s kinda like a burned caramel taste, almost smoky at times, but still very sweet, and with a very strong and creamy caramel taste. I’m a big fan of Japanese caramel, I’ve mentioned in the past how it has a lot more flavour than regular British caramel, and this is no exception. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this and I hope that Nestlé and McDonald’s come together again.

…As long as they don’t do a Filet-o-fish Kit Kat.
