Tunnock’s Caramel Log Wafer
“Crunchie biscuit, munchie caramel”, and with roasted coconut. This is a caramel log wafer from our favourite Scottish confectioner, Tunnock’s. This particular bar comes in a gold foil wrapper and rather than have pretty pictures, just has a whole bunch of buzzwords on which I’ve already quoted to you.
The ingredients on the back tell me that this bar is 49% caramel, that’s pretty insane. Dessicated coconut is 13% and nothing else is listed in terms of percentages so I guess the rest is wafer. There is cocoa powder in the bar so I’m trying to work out what this will look like, and I can’t even hazard a guess.
It’s a really strange looking bar in the end. The coating is a hardened caramel with chopped coconut sprinkled on. When it’s bitten into we then have the wafer from their wafer biscuit bars, with more caramel. The whole thing is soft and crunchy, with bits of coconut falling off everywhere. The coconut is the main taste, so you definitely have to be a fan to like this bar.
Fortunately I am, and I loved it. I’ve never seen this bar in England but I’m gonna actively search for it now, the caramel doesn’t have much of a taste, it’s all about the roasted coconut, and it’s just so good. Coconut fans should really check this out.
