Haribo revamps Halloween range for 2008

October 4th, 2008 by Terry

Haribo Horror Mix and Magic Mix family-size hanging bags have been given a fresh new look ready for Halloween – the biggest sales period for these two popular Haribo brands – and both lines are now also being made available in special seasonal 225g Trick or Treat Mini Mix bags.

New Magic Mix pack designs feature a magical scene of broomsticks, wands and witches hats, while the re-vamped Horror Mix packs depict an eerie night scene complete with bats, cob webs and creepy crawlies – very fitting for the Halloween season!
Both packs contain great tasting gums and jellies in colorful Halloween novelty shapes: snakes, spiders, toads, bats and skeletons in Horror Mix; and owls, broomsticks, cauldrons, ghosts and witches’ heads in Magic Mix.

This year Haribo has also produced special Halloween 225g ‘Trick or Treat’ packs each containing 10 mini-bags of Horror Mix and Magic Mix providing retailers with an alternative pack format ideally suited to the trick or treat market.

These will be available from mid-September.

As with all Haribo bag lines produced in the UK, Horror Mix and Magic Mix contain “No Artificial Colours” which is highlighted by a green flash on pack.

Both family-size hanging bags are packaged in shelf-ready display cartons containing 12 x bags which have an RRP of £1.12p, and the Trick or Treat Mini Bag packs are packed in shelf-ready cases containing 10 x 225g bags each with an RRP of £1.49.

Herwig Vennekens, Managing Director of Haribo (Dunhills) Pontefract, says, “Each year in the UK Halloween gets bigger and bigger with more people enjoying hence it represents a growing opportunity for retailers to generate incremental sales.

“From Haribo’s perspective, October and November – which also spans Bonfire Night and school half term – represent one of the biggest peaks in our sales calendar. A significant proportion of the increase during these months comes from the uplift in sales of Magic Mix and Horror Mix which really are must stock lines at this time of year.

“Because Magic Mix and Horror Mix are so popular at Halloween and with more and more people going out tricking or treating, we have this year introduced a special seasonal Trick or Treat pack containing 10 Magic Mix and Horror Mix mini-bags. With a recommended retail price of £1.49 we believe they will fly off shelves in the lead up to Halloween.”
