Galaxy Smooth Dark Bar

October 3rd, 2008 by Terry

It’s been awhile since I reviewed anything from Galaxy so when I saw this bar I figured it’d be nice to have something from them again. This is “the smooth Galaxy way to enjoy dark chocolate…deeply smooth, intensely delicious and not at all bitter”, and with 50% cocoa solids I wouldn’t expect it to be that bitter either.

They mentioned the word smooth three times there including the title, so that’s obviously what they’re bigging up, that you get a dark chocolate experience with none of the bitterness that puts people off. So how do you make it smooth? Well I guess it’s the 50% cocoa solids that do that. Now one thing you expect from a Galaxy bar is for it to be a work of art, and this is no exception.

Just look at that. Pretty as a picture. It has such a unique look to it, though as we all know it means nothing if the bar tastes like ass. Thankfully though it doesn’t, it’s fairly nice.

It tastes like a low cocoa solids dark chocolate bar. With the taste sort of there, and no bitterness at all, almost like eating a dark chocolate flavoured milk chocolate bar, if you can wrap your head around that. The bar had a surprisingly satisfying sound to it when tapped, though after 5 minutes of sitting out it had already lost it.

It tastes nice, 125g is too much but for what it’s worth I enjoyed it. It’s definitely smooth, just a nice dark chocolate bar with none of the bitterness that I hate. Not the best bar you’ll ever taste but if you have a craving but can’t stand the bitterness then this might be perfect for you.
