Cote d’Or 70% & Orange Experiences

September 23rd, 2008 by Terry

A Tesco exclusive, which shows just how big a supermarket they are. This is a 70% cocoa solids dark chocolate bar with candied orange peel within. Certainly a different take on this old combo, I find myself looking forward to this bar.

The bar has 4.3% candied orange, though other than that there’s not too much to comment on. The box looks nice, a dark theme with part of a big ol’ orange on the front, it’s certainly attractive. Let’s rip open this 100g beast.

The bar smells nice, a mix of rich chocolate and slight orange. The bar is the usual Cote d’Or format, which is a long, thin bar with 10 breakable pieces.

The candied orange pieces are certainly there, and they almost feel like nuts when bitten into, with their candied form. They give the bar a very balanced orange taste, and not only that, but a very balanced flavour of sweet and bitter. What this results in is a rather neutral bar on the tongue, but with great dark chocolate and orange flavours.

The entire thing has been balanced extremely well. It’s obvious that time has gone into this in order to create a good bar. I really enjoyed this, it was a different take on the chocolate and orange combo and it made for a very authentic, rich tasting bar which I would gladly have again.
