Nestlé Dark Chocolate Black Magic with Raisins & Almonds
Wasn’t sure how to go about the title, we’ll go with that. Anywho, this is a 52% cocoa solids “dark chocolate” bar with raisins and almonds mixed in. It’s a 100g bar, and part of Nestlé’s Black Magic range which includes a box of assorted chocolates, and perhaps other bars I’m not aware of.
They describe it as a “mellow” bar, with “rich and creamy dark chocolate” (dark chocolate is creamy now?) and “a rich source of antioxidants”. Mmmhmm, got proof for that then? Well in fact they do. On the back of the bar they have Total Polyphenol Antioxidants listed, with the bar containing 750mg, though there is no GDA for it. So I decided to look up Polyphenol antioxidants, and found that they’re basically…really bloody confusing. Screw that, you win this round, Nestlé.
So with 15% raisins and 10% roasted whole almonds, I can see this bar being ok. Let’s find out.
Well I had no natural light with which to take a picture with, the bar really isn’t that dark at all, both in colour and taste. It has a slight dark chocolate taste with none of the bitterness. So while this will suit some people (i.e. me), it won’t please others. The raisins add…nothing, the almonds add…nothing, basically. A slight chewy texture, and a slight crunchy texture but nothing more, certainly nothing in the way of taste.
Overall, not a bad bar, not something I’d buy again but I wouldn’t avoid it. Very “eh”. Each 100g bar has 491 calories, 6.7g Protein, 47.6g Carbohydrates (37.3g of which sugars) and 30.2g Fat (15g of which saturates).
