Milka Marzipan-Créme
Like yesterday’s Nougat bar, today’s Marzipan bar is obvious enough with what it’s about and what the expected taste is likely to be. I am a big marzipan fan and so suffice it to say I’m looking forward to this one.
The picture on the front makes this look pretty delicious. It shows a few nuts (marzipan is after all made from almonds), as well as part of a marzipan loaf half covered in milk chocolate, and then finally the normal two chunks of Milka chocolate with their marzipan filling. Like I said, delicious, let’s get stuck into this baby.
The bar looked like dark chocolate, so I looked on the back to see if I could make out any numbers that would be easily translated, but there weren’t. There’s a marzipan creme filling (35%) and a kakao creme filling (10%). No cocoa solids content though.
When pieces are broken off, there’s no sign of marzipan, that’s because each chunk has the filling set inside it, in as much as each chunk is separate to each other, and has a complete chocolate coating, and then a small amount of marzipan creme inside. While there’s only a small amount, it has plenty of flavour that overrides the chocolate. The chocolate seems to be bittersweet, it looks dark but doesn’t really taste like it, the entire thing is fairly sweet but not TOO sweet, hence I assume that the chocolate is slightly darker than normal to cancel out the sweetness of the marzipan.
Overall, a great bar for marzipan lovers. I preferred it to the Ritter Sport Marzipan bar, though that’s easier to get for us Brits. If you have a choice of both though, I’d go for this one. Each 100g bar has 515 calories, 6g Protein, 50g Carbohydrates and 32g Fat.
More Terry for your listening pleasure.
