Cadbury Dairy Milk Boysenberry Shortcake Desserts
Mmm, delicious…boysenberries? Reminds me of giggleberries, or to be more specific, the twig and giggleberries. Yeah, The Chocolate Review just got x-rated.
So what on earth is a boysenberry? Well I hoped they’d tell me, but no, the information on the pack just says “milk chocolate with a boysenberry shortcake flavoured centre”. So at least we know it’s just a flavour and there’s no actual…boysenberry shortcake. Alright, enough of this, let’s find out just what the hell a boysenberry is.
Ok, so a boysenberry is a cross between a loganberry (I don’t know what that is), a raspberry and a Pacific blackberry (again, no idea). Frankly this rabbit hole goes far too deep for my liking, so you keep your damn weirdly named berries, Australia. One thing I do like about this bar is that it’s exported all around Asia. There’s a list of official importers in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and even Vietnam. Shame they can’t make it easy for us, oh well.
So the bar looks like an ordinary Dairy Milk once opened. The bar doesn’t have much of a smell, but once broken in half there’s a red cream stuff that comes out, fondant-ish, like all Dairy Milk bars. It has a fruity smell to it, not too unlike…boysenberries? I don’t know anymore.
The taste is again, indescribable. It’s fruity and tangy, I’ve never had anything like it. It’s actually really nice, don’t know where the shortcake came from because there’s no biscuit involved or shortcake flavour. I take it back Australia, I want your boysenberries.

I would have been disappointed at the lack of shortcake element but the berry filling sounds refreshingly different. I haven’t seen these before in single serving bars like the 50g one you had….only the 250g which are bloody expensive - how did you lay claim to this bad boy?
