Ritter Sport Knusperkeks

June 18th, 2008 by Terry

Knusperkeks is German for Shortbread, hence this is shortbread Ritter Sport. This only has 11% shortbread so I’m assuming it’s got shortbread pieces in the bar, perhaps somewhat akin to the Dairy Milk bar.

The picture suggests otherwise though, with the chocolate covering the shortbread, as if this was a Ritter Sport bar with a large amount of shortbread filling.

And in fact, that’s what it is. Where our yoghurt and nougat fillings have been, we now have a shortbread filling. It’s not quite as thick as the creamy fillings have been but it’s still quite substantial. The good thing about it too is that it shares its flavour with the chocolate, so there wasn’t one outstanding flavour, which is how it should be.

Overall, a nice bar. It tastes like a chocolate covered biscuit really, which means it isn’t that special here but it’s still quite pleasant. I enjoyed it but I don’t think I’d get it again.

Hm, I’ve never tried these but the biscuit the picture shows makes me think of Bahlsen Leibniz biscuits (famous in Germany and children used to grow up on them) which have nothing to do with shortbread. They are just, ehm, biscuits. Just my two pence.

Sylke - Bahlsen Leibniz biscuits are amazing, I used to get them all the time when I worked in Morrisons where we sold a few different varieties.
