Beech’s Bunny Family

June 11th, 2008 by Terry

Beech’s are a company I’ve never heard of before. Based in Preston, they seem to have an emphasis on their “fine chocolates”, they have a number of collection type boxes on their website, so they’re one of THOSE companies.

I’ve mentioned before that when a company bigs themselves up they seem to almost set themselves up for a big fall. Now maybe Beech’s will be an exception to the rule, but I go in with low expectations anyway, especially with these “milk chocolates with fondant creme centres”, sounds sugary, and with a rabbit shape to them, no doubt aimed at children.

Opening up the pretty looking box reveals two layers of chocolate rabbits. I went to bite one in half in order to show off their thickness and their insides along with what they looked like normally but as you can see it ended up as a cracked mess, this happened with subsequent rabbits too so I just went with the first one I took.

So, the rabbits are small, but quite thick. The chocolate coating is relatively thin, not that it really matters because they’re not masking much flavour, just pure sugar. So yeah, that’s pretty much how they taste. Very sweet, sugary, like a Creme Egg in rabbit form, which certainly isn’t a bad thing. The chocolate isn’t great, these aren’t great, but they are surprisingly decent. As long as you don’t expect too much from them, you should find them to be decent.
