Divine Fruit and Nut Dark Chocolate Bar
Hokay, so our last Divine bar, did you guess it would be this? Here we have a 68% cocoa solids fruit (currants, 12%) and nut (chopped almonds, 8%) bar.
So, dark chocolate as opposed to milk chocolate. Is that better? Well, my personal preference is milk chocolate but at 68% and with fruit and nut here too I can see this being a pretty decent bar.
The wrapper is pretty, a nice black and purple theme, it suits a fruit and nut bar quite well. Everything ingredient wise is fairtrade too of course.
The bar itself has a big mix of flavours and taste sensations. First off, we have the bittersweet dark chocolate, with its sweetness, deep flavour and bitter notes. We also have the fruit, adding a tangyness and another sweet effect, and then the almonds add their nutty taste and ever so slightly salty notes.
That’s probably the idea anyway, but to be honest they all come together in a bit of a mish-mash. I really would have preferred milk chocolate, and then perhaps saltier almonds to balance out the sweetness, ala the Vosges Exotic Barcelona bar. It’s a really nice bar, but I feel that some small changes could make it that much nicer.
Overall, Divine are a great, caring company. They’re still quite small but they’re setting a great example for other companies to follow. I highly recommend them, and they don’t come at a premium price either. Their bars may not be particularly exciting but they’re extremely solid, nothing was bad and quite honestly I can’t fault them at all.
