Nestlé Chocolate Overload Kit Kat

May 15th, 2008 by Terry

“CHOCOLATE OVERLOOOOOOAD” was my reaction when I saw this, well, that and “Is it possible for a Kit Kat to be overloaded with chocolate?”, it’s not as if it’s any bigger than normal. Oh well, it’s only marketing speak.

Here we have another Australian bar, and once again I get to sample another Kit Kat from a different corner of the globe. This is a regular milk chocolate Kit Kat, only the wafers have chocolate praline in the middle too. A chocolate overload? Certainly doesn’t sound like it.

Breaking a stick in half let me see how Nestlé have tried to make this a chocolate overload, they’ve made the entire wafer a dark brown, so it looks like it’s a chocolate bar with chocolate in the middle.

That’s pretty much how it tastes too, like a double chocolate bar, as opposed to any hint of praline. I guess with 70% milk chocolate and 30% wafer that is quite chocolatey, I don’t know what a normal Kit Kat is like though (surely it’s similar).

I wouldn’t call it a chocolate overload, I’d call it a double chocolate bar, and while it’s nice and it’s different, I don’t think it suits the Kit Kat all that well, but then again I did eat this at midnight and that could very well have affected things. Overall though, this is a relatively decent bar that I’m probably being over critical of, and you can do much worse.

i wonder why kitkat has quite so many variations around the world. i can’t think of any bar that has as many. it’s almost like a running joke now.

It is a joke, a joke that’s being played on people like me who feel the need to buy all these even though they know they’ll be disappointed. :/

it sucks you in doesn’t it? like japanese snacks - i eventually got my second order from j-list and everything sucked even the pocky! never again.

I definitely didn’t think that this was an overload of chocolate. Maybe a regular load. It wasn’t bad, but I think it needed some really good dark chocolate in there, but then it couldn’t possibly be made by Nestle.

Ellie - It wouldn’t suck me in nearly as much if I didn’t do this, I think I’ve mentioned before that there’s a lot of stuff I’ve bought that I wouldn’t have ever considered buying before, just for the purpose of reviewing (such as dark chocolate in general, which I had never been interested in).

Cybele - Yeah I said that it’s just not possible to overload a Kit Kat with chocolate unless they changed the entire makeup of it, but then it wouldn’t be a Kit Kat.
