Galaxy Minstrels

May 7th, 2008 by Terry

“Smooth, creamy Galaxy milk chocolate in a crispy chocolate shell”, that sums these up pretty darn well. I realised awhile back I still hadn’t reviewed these and I finally remembered again yesterday, so better late than never, methinks.

So, these minstrels have no relation to actual minstrels, but that’s going way off topic. As part of Mars’ Galaxy brand, you know what you’re going to get with these, and that’s good quality, creamy, affordable chocolate, and that’s basically what Minstrels are.

What we have is a bag full of small chocolate discs, as described they have the appearance of an extremely large M&M, only…without the M on it. Inside the chocolate shell is a big solid disc of Galaxy’s patented milk chocolate, again like a good quality M&M.

These are simple, they don’t push any boundaries, yet they do what they set out to do very well, and whilst I hadn’t bought them in years previous to this, and will no doubt not buy them for years afterward, I do still recommend them, certainly over Smarties and M&M’s.

I just bought my first roll of smarties, but they went to someone else as a gift. These look better. Yum.

minstrels!!! i love these, you’re right they are so much better tasting than smarties and m&ms which i do like, but smarties are sickly and m&ms can taste a bit like a fart smells (i think i have expressed that sentiment to you before). i like to bite minstrels longways if that makes sense.

I had a look through my M&M archive and couldn’t find anything but I’m willing to take your word for it. And I know what you mean, instead of eating them horizontally, eating them vertically? I find that’s an interesting way to do it as the shell almost always cracks off completely leaving just the chocolate. Lovely.

the m&m could have come up on an unrelated post i guess. yes, that’s exactly what i mean - vertical biting! the shell cracks perfectly! gonna get me some tomorrow!

I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’ve read my site late at night and then gone and bought yourself some chocolate the next day, how did your Oreo excursion go by the way? And also since when you have had a website? I don’t remember seeing that before.

Hmm, I definately prefer Revels to Minstrels I think. More variety!

P.S Kinder Bueno White is now available in the UK. When I saw it I immediately thought of this blog. I tried them on holiday before, not AS good as original Bueno but still worth a try. :)

hell, i’ve read your site late at night and been tempted to sneak out to the 24 hour tesco then and there! forgot to check the oreos when i was in supermarket but will check next time. and the website is fairly new, and still being tweaked - as you can see, it’s very amateur. i can’t figure out how to use the css kit that the host site provides. i’m crap at that stuff :)
