Betta Traditional Liquorice

April 16th, 2008 by Terry

The first of three Betta Liquorice logs that I got sent totally randomly from Chocolates Direct just a little while ago. This is plain liquorice “smothered in real milk chocolate”. It’s rare that companies have to actually tell us their chocolate is real, I usually just assume it is, so that confuses me somewhat.

So this Australian liquorice company I assume one of RJ’s main rivals. The packet certainly looks the part, nice colours, good theme, I’m impressed so far.

The chocolate cracks off everywhere, I wanted to take a picture of the bar cut in half but it started to break straight away, and with the liquorice being so thick it took too much effort and I had to piece it back together.

When eaten normally though, it’s quite nice. I wouldn’t say it’s “smothered” as the chocolate isn’t very thick, or have much taste, but it is nice. Chocolate and liquorice is a good combination.

Per 40g log this has 149 calories, 1.4g Protein, 28g Carbohydrates (20.7g of which sugars) and 3.2g Fat (2.1g of which saturates).
