I’m not sure of the actual title of this bar, but I’m gonna go with this. The main point is…88% cocoa solids? 88%!? That’s a bit much isn’t it? Well, here’s the blurb: “The force of this chocolate is the like the beat of a drum, a rhythm, a cadence like that found in deepest, darkest Africa, pounding, imprinting itself on each part of your being.”

So it’s a powerful, dark, intense chocolate that’s meant to hit, to pound your senses. With 88% I would actually expect that, I’ve had 80% dark chocolate before that hit me and was too much, heck even less than that used to get to me. But 88%? Surely that’s too intense.

The wrapper is exceptionally plain, even by Dolfin’s standards. I would have thought they’d go with a black theme on this bar but they went instead. Go figure.

The taste is exceptionally dark, but without turning sour. It retains some sort of sweetness, and I was able to quite comfortably consume the 30g bar, and I actually wanted to. As far as the taste goes, it’s dark chocolate, very dark. It has the deep taste you’d expect, but it’s still sweet enough to be eaten, I don’t recommend it to someone who hasn’t had dark chocolate before. But to those of you who’ve delved into the dark chocolate world and are looking for something a little different, a little stronger, something to test your taste buds and senses a little bit, you might just find what you’re looking for with this bar.
