Only two more Dolfin reviews left after this. This particular bar hails from India, and here’s the blurb. “Masala is a mixture which awakens all the senses with the warmth of its colour and its refreshing sensation. The spices are everywhere, a concentration of wild beauty, the enchantment of India, the wonder of life bursting out from everywhere even when things appear dismal. A gourmet explosion in chocolate.”

Alright, even for marketing speak, that’s far too much. They’re gonna have to do a lot to backup claims like that. So let’s dissect this bar. First off with we have the orange wrapper, it’s the plain Dolfin theme, and the orange is a colour you’d expect what with it being Indian, hot and spicy. The milk chocolate is 20% cocoa solids, and the masala is about halfway down the ingredients list, which is the case for just about every Dolfin bar (sadly sugar and whole milk powder take first and second spots).

Opening the wrapper reveals the plain looking milk chocolate bar, there’s no bits of masala poking out of the bar, which is probably a good thing. Now, the taste test.

Like all Dolfin bars, it’s well blended, the bar doesn’t just taste of masala, it tastes of masala mixed with milk chocolate. I wouldn’t call it hot, but it’s definitely warm. The flavours that come through are spicy and warming, as well as sweet, creamy and chocolatey all in one bite. This is definitely a bar to be savoured, not just scoffed. When you’re paying this price for a chocolate bar, and when it’s this well made, you approach it in a different way otherwise you will not enjoy it nearly as much.

Overall, like all Dolfin bars so far, I recommend this to anyone who wants to try something new, who isn’t afraid of a bit of experimentation, and who is willing to pay the extra dollar for something that’s really worth it.
