Chocolates Direct Single Origin Cocoa Bars (Milk Chocolate Selection)
In November of last year, I received a rather hefty package from Chocolates Direct, an online British chocolate retailer. I’ve had so many other reviews to write about that it has literally taken me this long to put up the reviews. Anyway, one of their products was a line of single origin bars, six of which that I don’t consider distinct enough to warrant their own reviews, and so I decided to review the three milk chocolate bars today, and the three dark chocolate bars tomorrow
- 34% Java Milk Chocolate Bar

Milk chocolate bar made with cocoa beans from Java. Using 34% cocoa solids. The cocoa is grown in fertile soil and volcanic lava (so they say anyway…), resulting in a light milk chocolate bar with a hint of biscuit. I found this to be a delicious, creamy chocolate bar, and despite it being 50g which is standard size, I wanted more.
- 38% Costa Rica Milk Chocolate Bar

Milk chocolate bar made with cocoa beans from Costa Rica. Using 38% cocoa solids. Made with beans grown in Costa Rica which feature a mocha and olive flavour. Personally I didn’t notice either of these at all, but I wasn’t looking for them, again I thought it was a nice, pleasant milk chocolate bar that I’d like to have again.
- 43% Venezuela Milk Chocolate Bar

Milk chocolate bar made with cocoa beans from Venezuela. Using 43% cocoa solids. Strong milk chocolate made with Venezuelan cocoa beans with a spicy flavour. I hate to say the same thing a third time, but yes…a nice chocolate bar, I found it to be just a little bit spicy but nothing compared to an actual chili bar.
Overall, a decent selection. £2.50 is a lot to pay for a 100g bar, frankly…too much to pay, but rest assure you’re paying for quality.

Cheers Jim, I do agree with you, after all this is The Chocolate Review.
I check it out daily actually, I make a point of seeing how things are going for you, I really like your scoring system, it’s unique and an excellent way of distinguishing yourself, well done there. I’ll start leaving more comments there for you, nothing like getting a bit of discussion going to keep readers coming back.
