Läkerol Original

A big thanks to regular reader Richard, who sent me a whole bunch of these little sugarfree liquorice pastilles from Sweden.

These come in handy little 23g boxes, full to the brim of little flat, black discs. The box has absolutely no smell to it, which is quite contrary to the huge taste these pack.

One of the fun things about these is that I get to try and guess what each flavour is, as their names don’t give much away, and almost all of the blurb on the box is in Swedish. This flavour is from what i can tell, a strong mix of menthol and liquorice.

Both of these flavours give a very refreshing feeling through your mouth and nose, and combined together these are almost overpowering. Other than that, there’s not much else I can say, the menthol flavour is the dominating one here, and they taste somewhat akin to the Airwaves gum we have here in England.

Not bad, but I’d like to think there are better varieties in the range. Each box has about 30 calories, so you can rest easy there.

oh i LOVE these! not the original flavour so much, but the blue fruits flavour. You get a lot of different flavours in Switzerland for some reason.

I just checked the ingredients, there is no menthol in there, just liquorice.

Lucy - You’ll probably be quite pleased to hear I have a few fruity editions coming up then. :D

Richard - How odd…I really don’t know how they did it then, I guess it’s just a different way of making the liquorice or something. Anyway I must thank you again, whilst in all honesty I didn’t enjoy everything you sent me, it has been an interesting experience nonetheless.
