Another foreign Petit Desserts bar from Lindt, this is Irish Coffee flavour. Being half-Irish (isn’t everyone?), I am a big fan of this stuff when it’s done well. I have tried making it myself but seem to fail everytime, as getting the balance of coffee, cream and whiskey isn’t as easy as you might think.

I trust that Lindt will do it here though, the picture on the front looks appetising enough. A small glass of whiskey and coffee with a cream topping, with coffee beans next to it. The back of the packet then reveals to me three more Petit Desserts bars I had never even heard of – Noir Orange, Praline Rocher and Truffe Fondant, add that to the Maccaroon that was on the back of yesterday’s pack, and I don’t think I would be alone in cursing Lindt for teasing me so.

Regardless, concentrating on this, we have the cardboard box and thick foil wrapper like normal. Inside is the huge bar itself, weighing in at a hefty 150g. It smells creamy, with just the slightest hint of coffee, and I am a little worried that the balance isn’t there, but taste is an entirely different thing.

And boy is it! Lindt got this absolutely spot on. It’s milk chocolate of the highest quality, with a creamy truffle centre. There’s coffee there, and it blends superbly well, and just the faintest touch of whiskey as well, it can be tasted right in the background, just adding its own distinct flavour and aftertaste.

An amazing bar, Lindt recreated this perfectly. They really need to bring this over, I can see it being a big hit. Probably the best Petit Desserts bar I’ve had so far, and of course, highly recommended for those of you who travel around Europe or live there.
