Meiji Panky Chocolate – Mild Bitter

Meiji Panky Chocolate - Mild Bitter

I will admit I had some doubts about this, and I shall explain. For those of you not British, you might be interested to hear we have a slang term here known as ‘manky’, more of a kiddies word, but meaning ‘disgusting’, ‘foul’, etc.

So with a chocolate called panky, the word manky sprang straight to mind. When choosing to buy them, I was kinda hoping they would be bad so I could say “panky is manky”, I’m mature like that.

Panky is a light blue box, with a foil cardboard thing inside which then contains 10 seperate squares of chocolate with a bread-infused centre. At least…that’s what it’s meant to be. Mine came in pretty bad shape, I suppose there was a heatwave at some point, meaning mine was one big lump.

It’s supposed to be crunchy, all I can say is…it’s not. Compared to Nestle’s Crunch bar, or anything with puffed rice, this is nothing. The bread doesn’t add much of a texture, though it does add a bit of a strange taste that I’m not sure I like very much.

Is Panky manky? Not quite, but it’s not that good either. I don’t recommend it, not even with its strange name.

How funny! Here in the US we have our own slang associated with this… the term is “Hanky Panky” and it refers to, umm, shagging. :P

Ellie – Not made anymore orders then? Haha, I do agree though, the stuff is real hit and miss.

Sera – XDDD we have that term here too, I just didn’t even think about it. You’re filthy! :D

it would be more worrying if you had need for the phrase ‘manky hanky panky’
i actually did make a new order from j-list but only cos they credited my account for a couple of items missing from my last one. i mostly ordered pocky :)
although i’m off chocolate for lent :(
and i’m an atheist! why am i doing this to myself!

I too would be worried if I had to talk about my bad sex life here, not that I have one anyway! Why ARE you doing this to yourself? I actually haven’t eaten chocolate since my Hotel Chocolat review last week, my energy levels have plummeted, my body is so used to chocolate it’s almost depressing!

the effects are a bit worrying aren’t they! i offset them slightly by allowing myself one ordinary flavoured rice krispie square a day for the first week cos they are low in calories but really sweet. i think i would have been in a coma without them! how come you haven’t eaten chocolate since then?

Tell me about it…I would do that but I’m very strict, just gotta push through. I’m a keen weight lifter and the chocolate sort of…doesn’t help, really, so while I’m posting a backlog of stuff I figured I might as well clean up my diet completely and see how much of a difference it makes, except for the energy levels I’m feeling good, and I can tell that even after just one week it’s having a positive impact.

your body is probably like “hey – what the HELL is going on here terry, eh? where are my delicious chocolatey treats? hmm?” – what if it takes revenge upon you?
is it making you concentrate better on college? less sugar isn’t helping me concentrate better, cos i just spend the whole time wishing i could have some. sigh. bring on easter.

Haha yeah it’s probably something like that, though I think I’ve adjusted now, I actually managed to go to sleep at a proper time last night rather than the distubingly early bedtimes I’ve been having recently. And as for revenge…how do you mean?
Hmm, I don’t think so, my lectures are insanely boring anyway, I don’t think I could concentrate well in Software Engineering no matter how much sugar I had in me. I haven’t craved it at all, it’s just the rush I need from time to time.

Hahaha, aw man, I’ve corrupted you then! Can I redeem myself for wishing you a happy V Day? ;)

Many years spent on the internet has sadly corrupted me far beyond what you may think, Sera. You have indeed redeemed yourself though, thank you very much, and I wish you a happy Valentine’s Day too. :)

Actually I’m eating one now, and it’s absolutely delicious! Much more milky and high quality than the Nestle Crunch :) I think it just might have been a delivery problem. Last time I ordered a huge box of Meiji Meltyblend, the box was simply left out on the porch by the delivery man (who failed to ring the bell?). In any case, when we finally noticed the box in the afternoon, I found that many boxes (even though they were padded with styrofoam peanuts) had melted chocolate inside, which tasted completely awful in comparison with the original! :/
