Green & Black’s Mint Bar

Green & Black’s Mint Bar

Alright, after taking a little break from Green & Black’s, I’m back to hit the last three I can find in my local shops (everything except Cherry and Butterscotch, basically, they should come in time). Today starts with the Mint bar, which is about twice as thick as the other Green & Black’s bars.

It’s billed as “bittersweet dark 70% chocolate with a soft mint centre”, which sounds very…sickly and sweet, and is a sign of things to come.

Inside the foil wrapper is the bar, and it’s shaped completely differently to the other Green & Black’s bars. This bar is in a chunk format, similar to Ritter Sport or the big Dairy Milk bars. The dark chocolate chunks are then filled to the brim with the fondant mint stuff.

I said it sounded sweet, and it really is. The 70% chocolate doesn’t taste bitter at all, instead the fondant centre is so sweet it overpowers it completely. Combine this with rich flavours such as dark chocolate and peppermint and this bar is just a bit too much for me.

I ate about 3 chunks and started to feel sick, it really just didn’t go down very well with me. The taste itself isn’t too bad, a relatively plain mint flavour, nothing too special, but the formula needs to be changed a bit here, it’s far too rich and sugary.

The 100g bar has 478 calories, 7.4g Protein, 50.5g Carbohydrates and 27.1g Fat.

I agree, This bar isn’t that good. I bought it once and was seriously disappointed.

that’s disappointing, i though it would be mint flavoured not mint filled.

I really like the mint bar. But what I’ve always enjoyed about Green & Black’s is that I can break off a square or two and the rest of the bar stays good for a few days. I’ve never viewed them as bars I would eat all at once.

Having said that, the mint isn’t my favorite, the Hazelnut and Current holds that spot.
