Cote d’Or Noir Framboise Experiences

I’m not a big fan of dark chocolate, and I’m not a big fan of raspberry, so I thought it would be a fantastic idea to get a bar that combined the two together. This is part of the ‘Experiences’ range from Cote d’Or, the Belgian posh chocolate manufacturer.

I previously had the 70% cocoa bar from the Experiences range and didn’t like it one bit, this is also 70% cocoa, though a thin layer of raspberries has been added into the chocolate, as well as the dark chocolate being raspberry flavoured.

Inside the nice cardboard box is a foil wrapper, and in there is the big, thin block of dark chocolate. 10 breakable squares, each with the Cote d’Or elephant on the front, not much of a smell from the bar except for sweet chocolate and maybe a hint of raspberry.

The taste though is surprisingly good, the raspberry comes through in equal proportions to the chocolate, it’s not dominating at all and is quite pleasant. It also offsets the bitterness of the dark chocolate to the extent where it isn’t bitter at all. There are little pink pieces in the bar but they don’t seem to add texture, just taste.

The bar also has apple and pineapple in according to the ingredients, I don’t know what they add because I couldn’t taste them, but overall I thought this was a really good bar. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, and recommend it to anyone who likes raspberries and dark chocolate. Not conventional, but definitely good.

The entire bar has 580 calories, 6.1g Protein, 34g Carbohydrates (30g of which sugars) and 46g Fat (28.5g of which saturates).

i have tried that brand and i liked it. i believe it was 70% also and i, contrary to you, like it. I also like raspberry but i am not a big fan of fruit in my chocolate.

Marit - Never tried the pear one, tis another unconventional flavour though, if I could find it at a decent price I’d give it a go, and cheers for the kind words.

Alyssa - Contrary to me? I did say I liked it too, that’s…the opposite of contrary. :P Unless of course you mean normal 70% dark chocolate which I usually dislike, or that you meant to say you didn’t like this bar.
