Baileys Irish Cream Truffles
Baileys is a famous Irish Cream manufacturing company. Based (at least originally) in Ireland, they specialise in making creamy whiskey in a variety of flavours. I’m a particular fan of it, and have been known to consume vast quantities of the stuff because it’s so very quenchable.
With such a delicious liquid, it seemed like something that could be converted to chocolate form relatively easily, and with liquor-filled chocolates becoming very popular these days, Baileys have decided to cash in with their own version.
These are different though, as opposed to being milk chocolate shells filled with the liquor, these have a creamy, thick truffle inside that is flavoured with Bailey’s, they don’t say how much is in it though and it’s right down the Ingredients list, so the answer would be…not much.
The truffles are individually foil wrapped and are the size of an average Lindor truffle. The chocolate shell is, as I said, filled with the truffle, which has a strong Baileys flavour to it. It’s very creamy and has just a very slight whiskey touch to it that I could feel through my nose.
It’s hard to describe this as anything but creamy, because that’s really all it is. When I say creamy, I mean as in an actual cream taste, different to how creamy chocolate would taste. It’s almost as if you’re drinking cream, and personally I love the taste though I could see how some people might find it to be slightly odd, rich or sickly. If you’re a Baileys fan and looking for something a little special or different, these might do it for you.

Show me a person who doesn’t like Baileys, and I will show you a person who has no soul.

As if plain ol’ Baileys isn’t bad (good)enough. Sounds a bit overpowering.

I’ve seen a version of this in the U.S. The company that makes them also has Kahlua, Malibua (coconut rum), and other liquors.

A few years ago, a friend brought me back a box of these directly from Ireland. They’re the best truffles in the world.
