Thorntons Viennese Truffle Bar
Another single serving bar from Thorntons is this Viennese Truffle bar. Billed as ‘[a] blend of white and milk chocolate, sprinkled with fine sugar, with a layered butter mousse and truffle centre’, mmmm…
Like the Mousse au Chocolat bar, this is one of Thorntons ‘Continental’ bar ranges, as opposed to their more traditional single serving bar range. The truffles on the front of the pack look excellent, and are a sign of what’s to come.
Because basically, the bar is the same looking as the truffles…only in bar form. A long milk chocolate bar, dusted in sugar, inside is a soft, truffle centre. The milk chocolate coating is relatively plain, but it’s the truffle that makes this bar what it is.
And it’s excellent, the truffle is creamy and buttery, without being too rich. It offsets the chocolate very well, and gives a completely different flavour. It’s one of those bars that has to be tasted to be truly appreciated, but it’s a wonderful bar and one I will definitely be having again.
The bar has 201 calories, 1.7g Protein, 21.4g Carbohydrates (21g of which sugars) and 12g Fat (8.1g of which saturates).

yum, i know there’s lots of truffle products, but there needs to be more ordinary chocolate bars which are truffle-based cos the only time i get to eat truffles is when a box of chocolates or an easter egg appears. there aren’t really any ‘corner shop’ ones except that marble which seems to have disappeared and which left a metallic taste in my mouth.
p.s. we got no tins of chocolate this year

Yeah that’s a good point actually, I’ve eaten a lot of truffle-esque bars but most of them are either expensive block bars or selection boxes, there aren’t enough standard chocolate bars that use it, probably for a good reason. Shame about getting no chocolate tin for christmas, what kind of family gets no chocolate tin!? In case you care, we had Quality Street (hence the recent review).
