Thorntons Mousse au Chocolat Bar

Thorntons Mousse au Chocolat Bar (sorry for the picture, this is a picture of the truffles as I can’t find any stock photos of the bars)

I bought a few single serving Thorntons bars back at the beginning of summer but they’ve been sitting around ever since, and so I thought it was about time I reviewed them all. So this is the beginning of Thorntons week!

The Mousse au Chocolat bar is milk chocolate, topped with white and dark chocolate and layered with a creamy chocolate mousse and truffle centre. Sounds like there’s a lot going on in such a small bar, but I don’t doubt the quality of Thorntons.

The bar looks great, there’s no doubt about that. White and dark chocolate flakes are all over the top of the bar, with the entire thing smelling sweet and rich at the same time. The inside of the bar is indeed very soft and moussey, mixing well with the milk chocolate shell.

It’s a tough bar to describe, the flavours are a little strange despite being very nice. The white and dark chocolate flakes add just a bit of both sweetness and bitterness, and the centre tastes like it had alcohol in it (which was confirmed by the ingredient ‘creme da cacao liqueur).

It’s a great chocolate and I really enjoyed it, despite me struggling to describe it a little. I do think there are better Thorntons bars, and perhaps this would be even better with chopped hazelnuts mixed with the mousse, though that is an overdone idea. Each bar has 256 calories, 2.1g Protein, 26.6g Carbohydrates (25.8g of which sugars) and 15.5g Fat (10.6g of which saturates).
