The Chocolate Alchemist White Chocolate Spicy Bar

A bit of posh chocolate here. The Chocolate Alchemist are a small, independent Chocolate manufacturing company, and this is a white chocolate with cinnamon bar of theirs.

Chilli is an ingredient which is hitting the mainstream a bit, but I’ve never been tempted to try it except when Montezuma’s sent me one. Cinnamon is usually a lot tamer and I thought it could be a really good mix, so here we go.

Being a small company, the chocolate is of course organic. There are hardly any ingredients, just the white chocolate mixture (soya lecithin at the end!) and cinnamon, and that’s it! And the soya lecithin is the only non-organic ingredient used in the bar, so if things like that matter to you then that’s good news.

The chocolate doesn’t smell of much of anything, I had to put my nose right on it to detect a slightly strange smell. Nothing like the white chocolate I know, which usually smells very sweet, this smelled like it had more quality to it. The entire bar was specked with tiny red dots, indicating the cinnamon, and it looked great.

The taste I felt left something to be desired. To be frank, there’s not much of it. Cinnamon is the defining flavour here but it’s not too overpowering, and the white chocolate is creamy but tasteless. It’s not spicy in the slightest but I didn’t mind that at all. Overall it’s a very pleasant chocolate and does nothing wrong, but I just wish there was a little more kick to it, either in flavour or spice.
