Nestlé Walnut Whip
A bit of an odd chocolate here, the Walnut Whip is a ‘Milk chocolate whirl with a vanilla flavoured fondant cream centre’, and it’s then topped with half a walnut.
So what does that mean? Well, you get a blue packet with a large egg shaped chocolate inside, with a flat base so that it can stand on its own. The base is quite a thick amount of milk chocolate, and the egg is hollow, inside it is a very light whipped vanilla fondant centre.
The whipped centre has the consistency of whipped cream, very soft and fluffy and sadly not much taste to it. The chocolate is the main taste here, completely dominating the fondant centre. The centre is extremely sugary and sticks to your fingers if you get it on, similar in a way to the Creme Egg despite the fondant cream in both being very different.
The walnut on top seems very gimmicky, it doesn’t add anything really to the product, and it’s hard to sort of mix it in because it’s just sitting there on the top of it, so that’s a disappointment. In terms of taste it’s just…a walnut. It really is as simple as that.
The Walnut Whip has 174 calories, 2.1g Protein, 21.3g Carbohydrates (20.1g of which sugars) and 8.9g Fat (4.9g of which saturates). I don’t recommend this too highly unless you want a low calorie chocolate fix.

i used to buy one for my mum on Mother’s Day each year when I was little
Yet I’ve never tasted one. They are odd things really aren’t they? It’s not really a walnut whip cos it’s not like there’s walnut in the ‘whip’, it’s more like whip…with a walnut

And not even a whole one anyway, but half instead! Yeah I d’know…strange things, oh well…another one out of the way as far as I’m concerned.

The idea is to bite the walnut off, then suck the cream out. I’ve recently realised that doesn’t look as seductive as I’d hoped.

alice – Did you not tell your granny about that? Sounds like she had a death wish for you…
Leigh – If I ever, ever get round to getting a decent webcam and putting this video review idea into plan (it’s about half a year in development now) then I will re-review this and try eating it that way. We’ll see how sexy it is.

Ok, but I’m warning you, it ain’t pretty.
The same goes for creme eggs. I’ve lost many a date thanks to the creme egg.

I can make anything look pretty, just you wait. As for creme eggs, I’m just trying to work out how they would fit into a date situation at all…what were you thinking!?

Well i went to a very odd school.
Being able to eat a creme egg whilst retaining one’s dignity was considered a high priority in a partner.
Lol.

I disagree, the fondant I found is sweet tasting with a delightful texture, and I like the walnut on top- it’s a great way to start the chocolate by biting off the top!

I tried a Walnut Whip recently for the first time in 10+ years and I’m sad to say that the Nestle product is a Walnut Whip in name only:
1. There’s no walnut inside – just on top!
2. The “chocolate” is of the bland milky variety.
3. The surface texture of the chocolate is all wrong – it’s just kind of bumpy like a cheap easter egg. It used to consist of small ripples – much more exquisite.
All in all very sad, even if they are a mere £1 for three at Poundland.

Anyone on her complaining about negative connotations of the walnut whip can onyl be from outside the UK. The walnut whip is the greatest invention in history….unlike USA.
