Fabulicious Chunky Raspberry Twister

“Warning: Chunky Raspberry Twister will devastate your digestives!” is on the front of the pack, and at that point I was quite worried. My digestives? Does that mean my digestive system? In this modern world of law suits and warnings on everything, is this a literal warning that my organs will explode from eating this? A sane person wouldn’t have risked it…but, well, here goes…

Australia and New Zealand are famous for their awesome licorice, and this seems to be a soft eating raspberry licorice bar from the look and smell of things. The ingredients make for extremely depressing reading, with an absolute ton of various numbers, colouring agents and good old sugar, salt and vegetable fat. My stomach is already rumbling at the thought!

In the pack you get two long red sticks. They look similar to RJ’s logs (rimshot) except with markings in them as opposed to being long and smooth. They feel…odd, like they’re covered in something a bit sticky, I’m not sure if it’s sugar or a combination of many things, but it’s got me very confused.

The taste is similar to RJ’s raspberry licorice, only these were much harder and chewier, and not quite as nice. They’re not bad at all, but not quite as good as RJ’s. If these were a little warmer and softer then I feel it would make them much tastier, as I really had to chew my way through them, but overall they weren’t too bad at all.

And my digestives are still ok too, so another thumbs up there. The pack counts one of the sticks as a serving, so remember for the entire pack you’ll have to multiply these figures by two. So per stick these have 106 calories, <1g Protein, 23.8g Carbohydrates (13.1g of which sugars) and <1g Fat.

I was tempted to take things further but didn’t want to run it into the ground. Seriously though, what kind of line is that? Why would they freely admit that something of theirs will destroy my bowels? I’m so confused.

As usual, NZ licorice is better than AU licorice, but I’m just biased as a Kiwi
