Cadbury Cherry Ripe

Cherry Ripe

I previously reviewed the Cherry Ripe Chocettes and was quite impressed by them. Cherry-chocolate hybrids are hard to come about here in Britain and as a cherry fan, I felt it satisfied my taste buds quite well. The Cherry Ripe bar would surely be a bar version of the Chocettes then…

That’s certainly how it looks. ‘The big cherry taste’ is what they call it, and a big cherry taste is what it is. But let’s be more specific here…

The cherry ripe is a long chocolate bar (22% cocoa solids, though it seems a little darker than milk chocolate), with red coloured coconut (19%) and glace cherries (14%) stuffed in the coconut. The cherry pieces are quite small but still noticeably different from the coconut. They don’t change the consistency though, unlike the majority of fruit in British chocolate.

The coconut can hardly be tasted in my opinion, the cherries definitely overpower it, and it seems to be there merely for the consistency of the bar. The chocolate adds a sweet taste to the bar but not much flavour either, so all you’re tasting here is cherry. It’s a mild cherry, quite sweet again (it did start to hurt my teeth towards the end) but not too rich.

Overall I was impressed with it. I haven’t tried the Green & Black’s Cherry bar, which I’m sure will be nicer, but considering that I currently have nothing to directly compare with this, then I was impressed. If you’re a cherry fan then look no further than this.

The bar has 1070kJ, 1.9g Protein, 30.4g Carbohydrates (27.5g of which sugars) and 13.9g Fat (10.9g of which saturates).

Sera - Thank you, thank you. I do recommend it if you can find it anywhere, it was just luck on my part that I managed to get it, but if you can find a proper outlet then go for it.

raine - You’re not the first to point that out to me. It’s got something to do with my spam checker, it seems to block everything unless I approve it. I’ve had a play around with it but it still doesn’t want to be nice. I’ll keep looking at it, but hopefully things are working a bit better now.

Hang on, you can get these in the UK…?! Really? I’m going to have to go on a HUNT… (I love cherry)… :-)

You might be able to find them on Cybercandy, online would definitely be your best bet at any rate. I must emphasise that it was just luck that I got this, I didn’t choose to buy it.
