Lotte Strawberry Koala no March

Strawberry Koala no March

Some readers may remember my review of the Cafe au Lait Koala no March. Today and tomorrow I will be reviewing the more traditional flavours - Strawberry and Chocolate, respectively.

The box is of course extremely similar to that of the Cafe au Lait flavour, the same hexagonal shape, except with a very strong pink theme. There are koalas all over the box, both drawn and on the biscuits themselves.

Inside the box is a large foil wrapped bag chock-full of the strawberry cream filled biscuits. They’re koala shaped with a koala print on the front, in a variety of different poses.

As mentioned the biscuits are cream filled. Like with the Cafe au Lait flavour, on their own the biscuits taste horrible, you need to be crunching down on them and releasing the cream in order to get the good taste from these.

And it is a good taste as well, crispy on the outside and very soft on the inside, the strawberry flavour is very strong and tasty. It doesn’t taste too authentic but they’re still very good. When it comes to Japanese snacks, these are one of the most well known and it’s for a good reason; they’re one of the best.

thanks for putting this up! the strawberry ones don’t seem as nice as the chocolate ones but then i don’t like strawberry flavour things except actual strawberries.
rachel - i have ordered some from j-list (which i found out about from here) and they are very cheap but if you order them, you may as well order a few different things. i’m getting cheesecake flavour! (sounds gross)

Sera - Agreed, I guess it’s just a more traditional flavour, as opposed to green tea or red bean or something. Plus they’re so cuuu~te!

Rachel - Yes they are! Not expensive at all, about 60 or 70p on J-List, they can be found in Asian supermarkets as well (Japan Centre, Mount Fuji, etc.)

Ellie - Yeah I think the chocolate is a bit nicer, but the cafe latte was better than both of them. Shame it’s only seasonal, it was pretty awesome. You’ll have to tell me about the cheesecake flavour when you finally try it…

these are actually quite popular over here in the philippines where they are known as ‘koala yummies.’ pretty good. i think japanese confectionery are lighter tasting than most western stuff.
