‘Riesen. The chocolate chew’. This always seemed like such an American product to me back when it was actually advertised, turns out it’s actually German. Being a proud Englishman, I always like hearing English people in our English adverts, so having an American voiceover always sort of…bugged me, I guess.

Still, random nationalism aside, let’s get onto the chocolate. What I have here is the rollpack of Riesen, they also do a big bag which has a lot more, but I figured I’d go for the cheaper option if I could, and so…I did. This has about 5 Riesen chocolate chews in it, which is more than enough to conduct a review.

Basically this is chocolate toffee, covered in dark chocolate. Unless I’m mistaken the chocolate is only 30% cocoa solids, so it’s not reallly that dark at all, and doesn’t taste that dark either, but that doesn’t concern me too much.

And well, they’re not kidding when they call it a chew, you’re likely to end up looking like a cow munching on grass trying to chew these things, the toffee constantly sticking and unsticking to your teeth, and the dark chocolate getting mixed all around the place. It can be a bit messy.

These are relatively good though, I mean they’re not the best stuff I’ve ever had, but they’re not the worse either by a long shot. Just sort of plain tasting, I never get any cravings for these or anything, but if you’re looking for sticky toffee covered in chocolate, then here you go. No information on calories I’m afraid, they don’t provide it.
