Cadbury Dairy Milk with Mint Chips

Dairy Milk with Mint Chips

Ugh, minty chocolate. This stuff can either be excellent (ala Peppermint Aero) or terrible (ala everything else), I’d like to think Cadbury’s would do it well but they’re so hit and miss with their range that this bar has the potential to really go either way.

This is another of their Dairy Milk lines, which means it’s a standard Dairy Milk bar with mint chips (similar to the orange chips bar) dotted into it.

The bar has six breakable pieces, each with ‘Cadbury’ etched into the top, biting a piece in half revealed a huge amount of green crystal granules inside, mixed well into the chocolate.

The mint is really tame, but it’s perfect in that aspect. It’s very similar in taste to the Peppermint Aero, only not nearly as strong. The chocolate is surprisingly a stronger flavour, with the mint coming through every now and then. The bar is also slightly crunchy because of the granules.

Personally I don’t think they could have done this any better, I absolutely loved it and my only gripe would be that perhaps it wasn’t minty enough, but I think they got a delicate balance just about right. If you’re a bit wary about minty chocolate then this could be a perfect introduction for you.

Each bar has 245 calories, 3.2g Protein, 30.2g Carbohydrates (27.8g of which sugars) and 12.8g Fat (7.6g of which saturates).

mmm like this. i like it more than the aero which can sometimes be a bit toothpastey, and if you get the flat version, the paper foil gives it a cardboardy taste. cadbury mint crisp is just yummy. but i prefer the flat 8 square original version - why do they have two versions of all their 8square bars? is it to appeal to younger people or something?

How dare you insult the Aero! I’m not sure what you mean by the 8 square bars, do you mean their King Size bars which have an extra 2 blocks, or have I got that completely wrong?

hmmm i think this tastes more tooth pasty than aero……but i love the crunchy-ness!…….i just wish the mint was stronger

oh my god alice - you went to HEAVEN?! what was it like? are you on a sugar high? are there people just MADE of chocolate there? am i ill?
oh and i guess you’re right in one way - the mint in the cadburys has more toothpastey TASTING mint flavour but i meant the aero has a more toothpastey TEXTURE.
terry - by 8 square bars i mean like the classic dairymilk bar like in this pic

and don’t worry i am partial to an aero so no blasphemy has been committed but if i want mintiness i will go for the cadbury.

alice - Lucky you, did you get much?

ellie - I’ve never seen that bar before, or at least not in many years. If they are still around though then I guess it would appeal to kids but I’m just guessing really.
