Mars Xtreme Fruit Bubble Gum Skittles
I’ve never understood the North American obsession with the word ‘extreme’. I’ve seen a lot of companies that make products with the word in it, as if the word changes the product or adds something to it. And yes I’ve watched Harold and Kumar and it still makes little sense to me, just like the sk8er boi characters in the film did.
Anyway, us British aren’t fooled by this word and there’s no extreme candy in our stores and so this is a new thing for me. Can Skittles be extreme? Only in gum form I guess, and so here’s the extreme Skittles gum.
It comes in five flavours - Tangerine, Wild Cherry, Green Apple, Watermelon and Blue Raspberry. Pretty ugly sounding flavours, supposedly both artificially and naturally flavoured. Anyone think that the oh-so artificially sounding ‘blue raspberry’ being just a little more towards the well, artificial, side of things?
Tangerine - I’m unsure of what the difference between orange and tangerine is, but this definitely isn’t orange flavoured, so I guess this is what tangerine tastes like…sadly it’s not really that nice.
Wild Cherry - This one is a bit sour and it seems like the watermelon got into it a bit, as there was a bit of that there as well. This was very artificial and just not that nice.
Green Apple - Pretty disgusting. Less apple and more ass, it’s just such a weird, artificial taste. Stay completely away from this.
Watermelon - This went in the mouth, and straight back out. An absolutely disgusting taste, I dislike watermelon anyway but can stomach it if it’s somewhat decent, this though, was just terrible.
Blue Raspberry - It made me laugh that the most artificial flavour here was the best. It wasn’t good by any means but still better than the rest.
So overall, the only extreme thing about these was the extremely bad taste. There’s a lot of artificial flavour and not much natural, stay well away from these and stick to the regular Skittles.
