Galaxy Ripple
If ever there was a chocolate marketed for women, this is it. The complete antithesis to the Nestlé Yorkie, this is the Ripple from Galaxy. It’s billed as “Smooth and creamy Galaxy milk chocolate with a rippled centre”.
Most chocolate bars go for a short, fat, no nonsense approach. This bar is long and thin like a Flake, with very dark, soft colours on the packaging. As I said, this is most definitely a bar aimed at women.
In fact, it’s very long indeed, I could just about manage to hold it in my handspan as you can see in the third picture, and I’m a pretty tall guy (6′2″) with pretty big hands. After tasting this, it seems to me that this is Galaxy’s competition to the Cadbury’s Flake bar. Whilst not identical, there are a few similarities there. The centre is rippled and a little flakey, and the taste is slightly similar to that of a Flake.
It’s not as nice as an ordinary Galaxy bar, the taste is a little bit off, still good…just not as good. I think it’s nicer than a Flake, and of course it doesn’t break off everywhere which is good. But I can’t see myself buying it again, it’s not marketed towards men, and it’s just not quite nice enough to be able to win me back.
If you want it though, it’s got 176 calories, 2.2g Protein, 19.9g Carbohydrates and 9.9g Fat, so it’s not too bad at all.
