Thorntons Eden

Another delightful selection box from Thorntons, this is the Eden selection, a ‘divinely sinful’ collection of dark, milk and white chocolates.

This selection box is the smallest they had on the website. It contains 7 chocolates in a nice looking pink box. It has a decorative ribbon on the front that doesn’t tie round the whole box, instead just going inside, so the top comes off easily.

Inside the box is then some wrapping paper with a Thorntons seal on it, when opened the selection box is then there for all to see. Seven pretty looking chocolates, and with the inventory list on the front, I know what I’m eating, and here we go.

Original Sin – A dark chocolate shell encasing creme de cacao. The centre is whipped and soft, and taking one bite from this made it all fall apart. A bit annoying in that aspect, and a very rich chocolate here despite being so light. Plain in taste, but nice.

Lust – Raspberry and mascarpone encased in dark chocolate. Evidently this is a demon’s lust, it’s extremely tangy and sour on the tongue. A strange tasting one, not particularly to my liking but I managed to eat it.

Desire – Oranges and double cream encased in dark chocolate. Much better than the raspberry one, I liked this. Much less tangy and a good orange flavour that isn’t too overpowering. Well balanced and the best so far.

Passion – Passion fruit and guava in dark chocolate. Wow…I’ve never had passion fruit with chocolate and I want more! A fantastic flavour combination, again the passion fruit isn’t too strong, I wish it was more so though, because it’s a great flavour. This surprised me in a great way.

Temptation – Apple, fig and single cream in milk chocolate. Again some odd flavours, but sadly the main taste here is…the cream. I could barely taste apples, but that may be a bit of a placebo effect because I was looking for it. A good flavour, but not very appley.

Obsession – Mango and double cream in milk chocolate. Like the passion fruit and apple, again I could hardly taste the fruit at all. It was great when I could, but it’s a bit annoying that the milk chocolate took a lot of the flavour away.

Seduction – Strawberries, cream and champagne in white chocolate. Looks great and tastes great, creamy white chocolate with a soft strawberry taste. I couldn’t taste any champagne but that’s good as far as I’m concerned.

Overall, this is a fantastic fruity collection. Full of exotic new flavours that I’d never had before, and not one of them disappointed, except for maybe the raspberry which was too tangy. Still, the only downside to these would be that the fruit isn’t strong enough in the ones you want it to be.

I highly recommend these though, if you want something a bit different and are a fruit lover and have a bit of spare cash, you will love these. Each chocolate has 61 calories, 0.6g Protein, 5.8g Carbohydrates (5.6g of which sugars) and 3.9g Fat (2.6 of which saturates).
