Ferrero Rocher

Ferrero Rocher is a sort-of upmarket chocolate, or at least it was in the days before independent chocolatiers became more mainstream. Nowadays it’s still an extremely good chocolate, but the high class part of it seems a little ridiculous.
The adverts used to show rich people at parties, enjoying themselves, whilst stacked pyramids of Ferrero Rocher were around them. The point of this was to show that extremely rich people ate Ferrero Rocher, so by buying them, you’re an extremely classy person. So as I said, ridiculous really, but let’s not take anything away from these fellas, because these are so good.
These are described as ‘Whole hazelnut in milk chocolate and nut croquante’, but I don’t think that does them proper justice. Yes, it’s pretty basic in as much as it’s just a hazelnut in milk chocolate, with more chopped hazelnuts thrown in. But it’s so delicious in a way that you only really understand when you eat it yourself.
Suffice it to say, I highly recommend these, unless you have a nut allergy then you should be trying these posthaste. They’re one of the best store-bought chocolates you can get. A little pricey but worth it.

Ferrero-Rocher chocolate pyramids. I am not crazy about the chocolate myself, and I have had better. But the 3 sizes of pyramids they offer with their chocolates make DANDY replicas for any student interested in creating a model of the Giza Plateau. A fairly-close-to-scale Sphinx measuring no more than 4 inches can also be purchased from under $6.00 USD to $15.00 USD to complete the project! So-so chocolate, but wonderful pyramids for crafts/school projects!

Rocher is the only kind of Ferrero chocolate here in the Philippines. At least in the usual supermarket. I’ve never been into hazelnuts (I like plain dark/bittersweet and maybe orange or mint chocolate) but I’ve begun to appreciate it more recently. I wish the other variants were available to try.
