Reese’s Elvis Peanut Butter and Banana Cups

August 20th, 2007 by Terry

Don’t step on my blue suede shoes baby, uh huh-huh, thank you very much, and so on. It’s not often that the anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death comes around (once a year I do believe), especially the 30th anniversary, and so after missing this event I felt I had to bang this review out ASAP, so here we go.

I was sent these by Sera from CandyAddict, so a big thank you there as I wouldn’t have been able to get these otherwise. The front of the pack says these are ‘Collector Edition’, does that mean Hershey expect people to save these? And what’s collectible about these? Is it the wrapper or the PB Cups? I really hope it’s the wrapper…

These have a funky looking picture of Elvis on the front, and these are actually peanut butter and banana creme flavour. Why banana creme? Well, Elvis was said to be a fan of peanut butter and banana sandwiches (I also recommend these), and so after some experimentation, Hershey realised that this was doable, and here we have these!

The banana can be smelled pretty strongly as well as the peanut butter, and it smells pretty good. Not too strong, but a good mix with the peanut butter. That’s actually how they taste as well, and it’s pretty awesome.

The peanut butter is sat in its ordinary place, right slap bang in the middle of the cup, in between the layer of milk chocolate, the banana creme is all around the edges of the peanut butter, also within the milk chocolate, and so unless you’re being very careful about eating these, you’ll be tasting both banana creme and peanut butter in each bite.

The taste is pretty much what I expected. The banana creme is pretty standard tasting in terms of its banana…ry…ness. We don’t have any banana flavoured chocolate here in Britain, but it’s been done well here, much better than the Banana Aero I had awhile back. The rest of the cup is a tried and tested formula, and of course it mixes well with the banana creme.

Elvis no doubt would have loved these, I’m not sure if they’re better than the regular PB Cups, but the banana taste does add to the fun, rather than making them less tasty.

Each pack (2 cups) has 200 calories (100 from fat), 3g Protein, 24g Carbohydrates (22g of which sugars) and 11g Fat (6g of which saturates).

babycakes - Well done you, I couldn’t go for weeks without eating chocolate…one of the reasons for starting this I guess! And considering that people won’t send me things when I run this website, then I doubt you’ll be getting much either! :D

Sera - Definitely, thanks. Still a fair few others to review as well, also I need to email you, I’ve put that off for so long now I’m ashamed of myself.
